Ficalink existence is in response me having a damn hard time to find fanfiction to read/reread that fits my current mood. (Ie., fanfiction crossovers from fandom X and fandom Y). This is my solution to that problem.

This sub site is not quite “live.” As of right now this is mostly just for my enjoyment and because I thought it was a pretty damn cool idea (which also makes me certain there are other websites like this out there… All well!). It would be nice if others used it (specifically cause I could find some new reads that way), but not expected.

Problem: fan fiction is scattered all over in different archives.

Ficalink: A new archive is not needed. A way to organize links to the various archives, journals, personal websites, etc. is.

Problem: fan fiction can contain various information; some attributes are title, author, characters, genre and warnings.

Ficalink: Allow for multiple attributes and multiple of attribute (ie 3 authors, 2 links, 5 characters), but don’t require any but the link.

Problem: Someone else might know more information (attributes) of a entry

Ficalink: Allow for addition of attributes to other’s entry but not for alternation of other’s attributes. Also, accountability: each entry/attribute is associated with a user that added it.

Todo:

• Search feature that allows search for specific attributes (or, and, not, like)
• "My entries only" and "favorite entries" options.
• Verification of input (Ie, url looks like a url, ) partially done
• Redo of the add link form. I wish I’d found out about addChild earlier and not tortured myself with innerhtml and spans of all sorts. partially done Also, make it so relationships can be added on the addition page instead in edit mode.
• Addition of new types (quotes, books [different types can have different types of attributes, like a quote would have attributes like quote and source]) and of new attributes for current types (reviews, keywords [completed, short story, etc.]).
• Individual page for entries.done
• Lost password and email verification on sign up.
• Individual settings for look and usability (ie, try the display page with the addition of style=1 for a different look D:!).
• A way to link attributes of different entries together, like linking all stories by author bob and not another author bob.
